New Jewelry by Sasha Bell

It isn't often that I am swept away by new jewelry designs.  As a former jeweller myself and as I travel so many trade shows for my business, I am always delighted to discover something new and inspiring.  I also love how Sasha describes her work day because this is also how I feel about my store.
Sasha Bell: "I am privileged to wake up every morning and head to my studio with my cup of coffee in hand and create whatever is on my mind.  I try to learn something new everyday and I am so grateful that I get to call this my job."

New Arrivals for Fall

We have a new selection of raw edged leather clutches and handbags handcrafted in San Francisco by Jill Harrell.

Newport RI

Hurricane Irene brought so much rain and nasty weather to this part of the world during our short visit.  When we dried ourselves off, we went on a tour of Newport's oldest 'cottages'.  Yes, those are summer homes built in the American style of the early 1900's - HUGE!!  Perfect distraction for architectural junkies like us!

Walter and me - on the Road Again!

Brimfield MA is host to the largest antique/flea market in North America 3 times a year!  I've been curious about this market for years and finally had the chance to go last week.  This is the show all the serious designers go to to source amazing pieces from all over the world.  Imagine a village of tents and fields of exhibitors larger that Elora!  Having our bikes with us was the perfect solution.  Except for the rain, we had an amazing time and found quite a few treasures for our renovation projects.

Fresh Shipment from Pyrrha....

We are pleased to have a new line of jewelry to offer our customers.  Pyrrha jewelry is hand-crafted in Vancouver from reclaimed sterling silver, bronze and 14k gold.  Pendants, rings, bracelets and earrings are fashioned from 19th Century wax seals.  What we love about this line is the significance of the symbols and the stories they tell.  These are pieces that celebrate history, the maker's hand and qualities we all value such as courage, devotion and loyalty to name a few.

Just Arrived! Back to School Bags made from Up-cycled Bicycle Inner Tubes!

182,000 INNER TUBES RECLAIMED AND COUNTING!
These bags are soft and pliable, loaded with pockets and hidden details!  Alchemy Goods is located in Seattle where their small team of craftspeople make these great products.  Here is what the founder of Alchemy Goods had to say on how the idea developed:
There were always extra inner tubes lying around my apartment, and I realized that I could probably build the perfect bag out of stuff I already had. The first prototype was born on my home sewing machine. It wasn’t perfect, but it was exactly what I needed.

A Fun Afternoon of photos! Where's the wine? And who's watching the store???

Fall arrives early at Pod.  We have a great selection of fun and flirty little party dresses / tunics.  And the new footwear from Spain is gorgeous!!  Come by soon while we have a good selection of sizes!

Tornado destroys Goderich

We have a cottage in Bayfield, just 15 minutes south of Goderich on Lake Huron.  We were not around when the tornado hit but a week later we had a tour of the place.  Well what a shock.  Here are some photos and this is after a week of cleanup on site.  I can't imagine what these people are going through.  Many heritage buildings destroyed.
